Temple of the Sun: Brightness Creation!
Located in the mystic Machu Picchu city, you will find one of the most astonishing human creations: the Temple of the Sun. This temple is one of the finest Inca’s stonework. According to some archeological excavations, almost sixty percent of the efforts were focused on preparing the site, creating an appropriate drainage system due to heavy rainfalls and building solid foundations to support those heavy structures. The temple is a semicircle construction with two trapezoidal windows. These two windows were the most important solar observatory in Machu Picchu. Finally, worked stone blocks were used in the construction of the temple, and when it was inhabited, it had gold and precious metals inlays on the walls. There is an altar in the center of the temple where the Inca performed their religious ceremonies to worship the sun and sacrifice animals as part of their rituals.
