Bolivarian Library: More than a Library
The Biblioteca Bolivariana, called the Bolivarian Library in English, is specifically located on street 20, fourth avenue. It is situated in Mérida, Venezuela. This is an extremely famous place since it is very visited by couples who want to give to their honeymoon a touch of past times in a colonial, exotic place. Nevertheless, it is a very particular place to visit due to the fact that, contrasting with the architectural style of the rest of the buildings, it was constructed under a very modern design.
Categorized as one of the most interesting attractions in Merida, this library receives plenty of visitors willing to go there to see and learn from the past of this fantastic country called Venezuela. This amazing library was inaugurated in 1983, exactly two hundred years after the date of the death of Simón Bolivar, which is considered to be one of the most significant men in the history of the country. In fact, its inauguration was part of “The Liberator’s” celebrations.
These days, due to the valuable objects conserved in this place, this library also acts as a museum and a great art gallery. Among the great collection or objects this library relies on, fundamental heirlooms are kept, including some that belonged to Simón Bolivar. In addition, you will also have the possibility to find other valuable historical items such as some documents regarding his march across the Andes in the year 1813. It is important for you to be conscious that admission may vary depending on the exhibit and no credit cards are accepted. Thus, if you are willing to get in contact with pure culture and history in Venezuela, you cannot miss the Bolivarian Library.
