The Bellas Artes Railway Station: A Europe in Santiago

The Bellas Artes railway station, which is part of the Santiago metro system in Chile, is an amazing Chilean attraction. It is a subterranean station located, specifically, between the Plaza de Armas and Baquedano stations. The only entrance that is available in this station is the one located in the intersection of Mosqueto’s street. However, some may be wondering why it is that the platforms are narrower than the older stations. It is believed that, perhaps, this particular feature of the station is due to the specific location’s traits since those streets are really narrow and the buildings are in the XX European style.

This station is so famous and well-known that lots of foreign and Chilean visitors go there to admire this peculiar station. In addition to its unusual structure, it relies on a fantastic mezzanine, which, these days, acts as an art gallery. Nevertheless, the beauty of this station does not end there. The place where it is situated contributes greatly to the fact that this station is such a visited place. To the north, tourists are able to find the Parque Forestal, the Bellas Artes Museum, the Lawrence Art Gallery and the Goethe Insititute. Furthermore, the cerro Santa Lucía is also nearby the station. This constitutes one of the Snatiago’s most visited parks, from which a splendid view can be enjoyed. On the Jose Miguel de la Barra avenue, plenty of cafés are available. Since they give an absolutely European style to the environment, it is considered to be a unique place. So, if you are looking for an out-of-this-world place without going too far away, just get to know this station and you will never forget it.
