Taltal
South America is the fourth largest continent of the Western Hemisphere. It is divided politically into 12 independent countries namely Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay, and Venezuela and the overseas department of French Guiana. The continent extends to 7,640 kilometers from Punta Gallinas, Colombia, in the north to Cape Horn, Chile, in the south. At its broadest point, near where it is crossed by the equator, the continent extends to 5,300 kilometers from east to west. South America is connected to North America by the Isthmus of Panama. Taltal is a popular town in South America known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, cooperative people and luxurious hotels and cottages. It is famous for the abundance of red conger. The town is located at about 280 kilometers away from Antofagasta. The Taltal area, which is located within the coastal cordillera of northern Chile, is subjugated by a group of major active faults that cut a eugeosynclinal section of predominantly Jurassic andesites overlying Paleozoic metamorphic and plutonic rocks and intruded by Late Mesozoic plutons. Three distinctive features were found to be consistently offset 10 kilometers by the Taltal fault, which include the easternmost strand of the Atacama fault, an intrusive contact, and a unique volcanic unit. Former continuity of the Atacama fault through the Taltal region is proposed, and subsequent disruption by the Taltal fault appears to have caused major structural readjustments in the still-active Atacama fault zone. Across from its coasts is one of the deepest trenches in the world. It possesses many destinations of interest that include Arturo Prat Square, the House of Culture, La Puntilla, the Gruta de la Virgen de Lourdes, the Ferrocarril Salitrero and the steam locomotive. Among its most important beaches are Las Tortolas, Cifuncho, the Tierra del Moro, Poza La Tortuga, Las Lozas and many more. A thousand surprising discoveries, great kids hotels, excellent family resorts, one country, Taltal is a truly unique adventure playground for all those who want more than just the seaside, who want more originality, and authenticity, more variety and more family fun. Here, everything is just around the corner and nothing is closer than pure enjoyment.
