Ocumare del Tuy
South America is the fourth largest continent of the Western Hemisphere. It is divided politically into 12 independent countries namely Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay, and Venezuela and the overseas department of French Guiana. The continent extends to 7,640 kilometers from Punta Gallinas, Colombia, in the north to Cape Horn, Chile, in the south. At its broadest point, near where it is crossed by the equator, the continent extends to 5,300 kilometers from east to west. South America is connected to North America by the Isthmus of Panama. It is washed on the north by the Caribbean Sea, on the east by the Atlantic Ocean, and on the west by the Pacific Ocean. Topographically the continent is divided into three sections namely the South American cordillera, the interior lowlands, and the continental shield. Roman Catholicism is the dominant religion and Portuguese and Spanish are the primary languages of the continent. Ocumare del Tuy is a city located in the Miranda State in northern Venezuela. Ocumare del Tuy is a city that is noted for warm and clear weather, with year-round sunshine and 60 days of rainfall annually and an average temperature that ranges from 64 to 83 degrees, but with relatively low humidity. Ocumare del Tuy has a population of 138,000 inhabitants as of 2004, mainly dedicated to agriculture and livestock farming, with leafy forest and meadows. Ocumare del Tuy was the first capital of the Estado Miranda between 1904 and 1928 until it moved over to Los Teques. Ocumare del Tuy prides itself on its important role in social and cultural development in the history of Miranda as well as on the opportunity provided to its citizens to live, work and grow in a clean and prosperous environment. The city of Ocumare del Tuy has placed itself at the top of a list of municipalities in the Metropolitan Region with the highest quality of life.
