South America is the fourth largest continent of the Western Hemisphere. It is divided politically into 12 independent countries namely Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay, and Venezuela and the overseas department of French Guiana. The continent extends to 7,640 kilometers from Punta Gallinas, Colombia, in the north to Cape Horn, Chile, in the south. At its broadest point, near where it is crossed by the equator, the continent extends to 5,300 kilometers from east to west.
 
South America is connected to North America by the Isthmus of Panama. It is washed on the north by the Caribbean Sea, on the east by the Atlantic Ocean, and on the west by the Pacific Ocean. Topographically the continent is divided into three sections namely the South American cordillera, the interior lowlands, and the continental shield. Roman Catholicism is the dominant religion and Portuguese and Spanish are the primary languages of the continent.
 
Lomas de Zamora is a city in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, located next to the border of Buenos Aires city and within the metropolitan area of greater Buenos Aires. It has a population of 591,345 as per the 2001 census. It is the capital of Lomas de Zamora Partido. Lomas de Zamora is located in a region that supports livestock, grain, fruit, and poultry farms. Industries here include meatpacking, grain, and fruit processing saw milling, and the manufacture of dairy products, chemicals, rubber and paper products, and plastic and leather goods. The city is the site of an agricultural school and an art museum. It has a large British community with separate schools. This city is home of the Univeridad de Lomas de Zamora UNLZ, one of the biggest universities of greater Buenos Aires.
Lomas de Zamora, due its various places of interest is one of the most visited places. It is also said the place of best geographical environment and can trace its origins back to prehistoric times. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and gain enthusiasm in its natural beauty and populace.
